Shari Botts, BSN, RN, CPHQ, C-OQNS, CIC , has announced that she will retire from the OAHQ Board at the end of this month. Over the past seven years, Shari has served in multiple leadership roles—including President—and has helped shape OAHQ’s growth and reach. During her presidency, OAHQ joined the Healthcare Quality Collaborative (HQC), which has since expanded to nine states. This milestone strengthened OAHQ’s ability to share best practices and learn alongside quality leaders across the United States, and the HQC continues to grow as a valuable forum for collaboration. Long before serving on the Board, Shari was an engaged member for many years and a steady source of encouragement for others seeking to grow in healthcare quality leadership. Jason Fisher, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, NI-BC, CPHQ Measles, a highly contagious viral illness that can cause severe complications and death. Before widespread vaccination, measles was endemic in the United States (US). In 2000, the US declared measles eliminated, meaning that there was no continuous year-round transmission within the country (Mathis et al., 2024). However, elimination does not mean zero cases of measles, as imported measles can and still does occur and trigger outbreaks.  Prior to the existence of the measles vaccine, it was estimated that up to 500 people died and 48,000 were hospitalized each year in the US (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2025). Welcome Richard E. Lisciandro, MBA, BSN, RN, CIC, CPHQ to our Board! Rich  is a Registered Nurse with a passion for quality improvement and patient safety. He currently serves as an Infection Preventionist RN at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  We are grateful to Rich's commitment to lead in our mission to improve the quality and safety of healthcare for patients throughout Ohio by advancing practice and supporting the professional growth and development of healthcare professionals.
